Julie3: Sculpting Dragons in hard Glass channel subscription This E-course channel is designed for beginner to Intermediate level lampworkers/beadmakers to sculpting complicated forms in borosilicate glass. Dragons are a demanding introduction to sculpting off-mandrel.

In this e_course you will learn to make a dragon in many stages to skyrocket your sculptural learning curve in the comfort of your own studio. The dragon will be made in components in coloured borosilicate with the use of powders and contemporized filigrana techniques to create depth and reality as opposed to a cartoon-like flat representation. Dragon wings are made by pulling points and encasing the tubing, blowing the tubing and finally cutting and shaping our wings. The body will encompass claws, dragon tendrils, scales and eyes among other things. You will create our own dragon eye murini in borosilicate glass. Techniques include the use of tubing, pulling points, colour application, heat/glass control, glass rules, the family of annealing flames from cold to hot and vice versa, how to combat cracking, how to fix glass and structural engineering–how to make glass bomb proof for the post and transportation. In this class we will make three different types of dragon-standing, hanging and framed.

You will be subscribed to this e_course channel for three months. By the end of your course you will feel like an entirely new world of sculpting complicated forms through flameworked glass has opened up to you. Expect breakages and tears. What we are creating is tricky and takes practice, logic and an enquiring mind.
